Purpose

A National Day of Action in Defense of Public Transportation

Other details
With fare hikes and cuts to service at TriMet looming on the horizon, Occupy Portland joins Occupy Boston's call for a national day of action on April 4th in defense of public transportation. ‘Occupy TriMet’ will be a local day of action in support of reliable, affordable transit throughout our region. We will gather in the SW section of Pioneer Courthouse Square at 4PM to meet, talk, provide information and proposed solutions that you can get involved in to support a vital service throughout our metro area.

We will be commemorating the anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jr. and his amazing speech "Beyond Vietnam" which resonates to this day, with poignant views on how our country devotes it's primary financial resources into it's military rather than its communities. Please join us in a day of positive, community building social uplift.
