occupy events

Hi Tiff, curious about pages like KPSU PRESENTS: THE HUGS @ THE BING LOUNGE 1 20 12 in the Occupy Portland Events stream. What are your thoughts about the connection? Best,

MarkDilley06:39, 19 January 2012

Both of the events you have asked about involve people that are part of Occupy. The Hugs is a PSU event and would be of interest to those with Occupy PSU but is open to all. The same with the other event. In addition, they are both either free or very inexpensive, which is something that I look for when I add an event. The event page states that as well. If something like one of these events first attracts someone to our events page and leads to them to look more into what Occupy is all about, I consider that a good thing. On the other hand, those already involved in Occupy should also be given the opportunity to learn of fun and inexpensive events that they can participate in and invite others to. I hope this helps! Thanks, Tiff

I suspected as much :-) Others have queried about it and even removed one that didn't look directly connected. May I suggest that you add a quick/short note about connectedness in the future? Best,

MarkDilley03:24, 22 January 2012

Hi Tiff,

Thank you so very much for all of your hard work! We very much appreciate all that you are doing on PortlandWiki. Occupy Portland Events is far and away the most popular feature on this wiki, and you are that feature's main contributor. Thank you again!

Kind regards,

WikiMaster (talk)10:06, 22 January 2012

Thank you! I enjoy being a part of this site very much. Tiff

would you accept a friendly amendment for balancing between ease of typing and ease of reading... Talk:OccupyPDXevents?

Also, let's think of that as a pattern for the whole wiki. We need pages that are easier to type. Best, Mark

MarkDilley23:16, 28 October 2011

omg... sorry I didn't even see this until now. hehe :)

Tiff, thanks for your work here. I'm definitely using it, and referring others here too.

Aw Shucks! You guys are sweeties!! I am thrilled that the calendar is starting to catch on. I try really hard to make sure it is always up to date and has accurate information. As well as adding in some other great events around town that people could find very useful, fun and FREE!

I have also created the Occupy PDX Action FB where people can have a central place to post their ideas/proposals for events. Each Monday I will be taking the list to the AC meeting to discuss actions that we can take to facilitate those events. I have encouraged everyone to be creative and POSITIVE with their ideas so we can move away from the negative image the media has portrayed. Please help me to get more input from people... If you hear someone saying "We should do..." ~ Please tell them to go to the fb at http://www.facebook.com/groups/175684159192854/ and at the top of the page under the group name there is a link to DOCS. They can add their ideas there and I print it off each week.

I will be trying to get the committees to communicate more as well... But, unfortunately that will take longer because we don't even have a contact list at this point. We will get there eventually :)

TiffOccupy (talk)23:41, 19 November 2011

Tiff - let's talk about that contact list too! Best,

MarkDilley01:13, 20 November 2011

Sounds great! Tiff

Does that work for you in the sidebar?

trying to make clear the occupy links. What do you think? Best,

MarkDilley00:22, 19 November 2011

I think that looks awesome! It took me a little time to figure out how to do that! :) Thanks so much for that!! I kept getting frustrated with not having a link to get back to the event page without first going to the main page. hehe This is MUCH more efficient. Tiff

TiffOccupy (talk)01:58, 19 November 2011

One of the things that I love about wiki is that you can do so much with the website- it makes me feel powerful and that you figured out how to do it is super awesome!! Power to people, even with websites! Best,

MarkDilley10:26, 19 November 2011

Agreed! :) I have loved learning how to use this site and it is very user-friendly so that makes it nice. Its funny because I have taken html classes and know how to code up a site but you don't even have to know that to work with this one. Its great!

TiffOccupy (talk)11:43, 19 November 2011

That is music to my ears! So often I hear that wiki is not friendly to work with - but I couldn't disagree more! :-) Best,

MarkDilley21:25, 19 November 2011

Hehe! It would only feel that way if you aren't very computer savvy, I suppose. But I am with you on that!! :)

TiffOccupy (talk)23:44, 19 November 2011

"power in unity"

hey tiff, i edited the following off the main page just because it didn't seem to be an event and i didn't know how to intermix it with the newest upcoming events.... i wanted to let you know in case you felt strongly about it so that you could add it back.

is it something that should go on the main OccupyPortland page?

Ios (talk)13:36, 7 November 2011

Oh. No that is no problem. I was really just shortening the event it was on. Its totally fine to remove it. Thanks :)

Tiff (talk)04:42, 8 November 2011

The User pages (uggh I despise calling people User)

They have different properties than other pages, so while you can move the page name, you need a sysop to actually change your account name. I am not sure we have that ability on this wiki, let me check... we don't, can you go over to the left sidebar and 'Make a suggestion' that we have the ability to rename accounts? Best,

MarkDilley23:20, 28 October 2011

Glad you are here and let us know if anything isn't clearer than mud :-)

Occupier (talk)21:29, 24 October 2011

Great! Thanks so much! I am starting to get the hang of it now. I appreciate the help. I am on the Action Committee and specifically in charge of the online communication regarding events. I post them everywhere and that is how I ran across this site. I had never heard of it before but really like it! Look forward to working with you.

Tiff (talk)22:32, 24 October 2011

yay! I think these headers are easier to read on the page, what do you think? If you agree, I can change them, we can change them :-) [1]

11:46, 27 October 2011

Sure. Thats great. Thanks for the help. Btw who is this?

Tiff (talk)14:05, 27 October 2011

I am down at the Occupy camp every few days, did the first week. I will be trying to pull together a Wiki committee - you interested? If not, I would at least want you to share your story with folks about how you have found the wiki useful in getting information out there.

16:23, 27 October 2011

What is involved in a Wiki Committee? I would be happy to share my story... Tiff

Tiff (talk)16:53, 27 October 2011

I am going to be there tomorrow for Pink Martini, you? A Wiki Committee involvement would be what you choose. I think we could publicly make agenda's and figure it out ourselves. The first item might be, how do we make this events page more widely known? Maybe advocate for a link to the wiki from the official site? Maybe we get a Wiki Committee link in the forum in case others are looking for easy ways to publish what they are working on - (not even necessarily on the events page.) Also, if you add your email to your account and confirm it, you can get email pushes from talk page messages and other pages you care about.

23:51, 27 October 2011

I was actually in a meeting during the Pink Martini. I am already working on links. I will know more a little later. What is your name?
