Portland benefits from Oregon's ongoing investment in bike paths that dates back to the '70s. The city of Portland distributes a map [1] showing these paths and other marked or recommended routes throughout the city. Riders new to the city, and residents new to bicycling, would be wise to get this map and study it regularly.
