'''Yellow Pages Replaced By "Google Pages"?'''<br />
'''Title'''<br />
Heck, who even ''uses'' a land line anymore? And even those of us who do, the last thing we want kicking around our living spaces is that huge, ugly, unwieldy telecom-age dinosaur: the yellow pages directory. Unfortunately, countless local, main street businesses depended on the print ads they ran their local yellow pages directory to drive new business. Although most "mom & pop" businesses hated to do it, they would often pay outrageously exorbitant rates the directories charged in fear of the business they'd lose to their competitors if they refused. But the overall usefulness of yellow pages ads has steadily declined for nearly a decade, with no viable alternative in sight. Until now?<br />

doesn't seem portland related

a lot of what is making onto the "news" section of the main page doesn't seem so portalnd related and/or political. i'm not sure this is going to attract contributors and/or a wide segment of the population. i appreciate the energy time and effort, but perhaps it could be directed in another direction. Hey Michael! Thanks for your feedback. Sorry I didn't spot it until quite a while after you posted it. We'll try and keep the front page news blurbs more obviously Portland-focused. Whether they seem "political" or not probably depends on the subject matter and how it's perceived by the reader. With luck, we'll find someone (or a group of someones) interested in taking over the daily news blurbs tasks. This will allow the person who is currently that section's main contributor to return to more of an administrative role. -WikiMaster (talk) 18:44, 26 December 2010 (PST)
