Local Writers Reading Original Works

Authors in Pubs is a 'First Monday' event that brings local writers into a bar, restaurant, or wherever and allows them to share their work with the patrons. This helps boost the confidence of the writer by getting first hand feedback on his/her work. We started in September, 2011 and the crowd has steadily grown so that we recently moved to a larger venue. The show runs about two hours and we invite you to show up early and stay after to talk with the writers or possibly buy their book. If you would like to contribute at a future event, please contact me in advance about being added to our current stable of writers. thanks, Don

Review of the June 4th show by Kay Garrett

Almost every author was noteworthy in their own way and didn't disappoint. Best wishes are particularly due to the first-time authors as it takes alot of intestinal fortitude to get up before an audience and expose yourself to criticism.

Patrick Hoyer was one of them. Notwithstanding the fact that he is a great sous chef, his unconventional upbringing allowed him, to put down on paper specific details of his youth that made me wish I had grown up on the same block as the 'Brown House'.

Kehl Van Horn, an erudite bartender, specializing in people skills, as well as being a first-time author, read a heartwarming tribute to a well-loved mother which not only brought tears to his eyes (and mine) on more than one occasion, but gave me a whole new perspective on the local watering hole and its inhabitants.... most of whom I personally know.

We all look forward to more compositions, essays and/or exposes from these local authors.
