|Welcome to PortlandWiki|
A city wiki for Portland, Oregon that anyone can edit. The aim is to provide a comprehensive reference for anything and everything in the Portland metropolitan area. The project is very new and could use your help! Poke around and if you want to help out: (no email required), explore, and add anything you think is useful. You can also click "edit" to make improvements without logging in, if you like. Then come back often and see what others have added.
You're meeting PortlandWiki in its infancy. It grows and thrives with your input, and with contributions from people like you. You are invited to participate in one of our PortlandWiki "edit parties" every Monday evening. Check out our Monday Meets page to find out when and where you can attend the next one. Getting together with others to work on PortlandWiki is a great way to discuss contribution ideas, get help with figuring out "wiki text," and have fun! We also discuss PortlandWiki at WikiWednesdays, which are also free and open to anyone. Come by!

Portland's architectural landmark, United States Custom House, officially goes on the auction block today. Previous efforts to turn the building into a 82-room boutique hotel or house Portland's International School fell through. Ideas for turning the building into a home for a Public Market, Sustainability Center or a Rose City Campus for the University of Oregon went nowhere. A couple of months ago, the Oregonian's Anna Griffin thoughtfully observed that someone with "with a vision" should turn their vision for what should happen with this Portland treasure into reality. Here's a chance to step up and take that challenge. What is your vision for the U.S. Custom House? Don't be shy; describe your vision here.
Places to go near Portland
Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens and the Pacific Coast are all within a two hour drive from Portland. These are all great places to be during the few months of the year when it is not raining - basically, July 4th - October 4th.
