• Check out Ground Kontrol, a classic arcade and bar. Ground Kontrol is all-ages from Noon - 5pm daily, and 21+ only after 5pm nightly.
• Drop by the Living Room Theater to check out a show.
• If you are not into movies and want a cool hangout, drop by Backspace.
• Art! The first week of the month offers First Thursday. Browse through the many art galleries throughout gritty Old Town and the shiny and plasticine Pearl District.
• Meander through the Portland Police Historical Museum.
• Walk through the South Park Blocks, which run through the Portland State University campus.

Places to go near Portland

Long Beach, Washington: Convenient Portland getaway and home to the "world's largest frying pan."

• Visit beautiful Timberline Lodge, a National Historic Landmark. The lodge was constructed in the late '30s as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression.
• Ski the slippery slopes of Mt. Hood.
• Explore the active volcano at Mt. St. Helens.
• Meander along the Pacific Coast, less than a two day power walk from Portland.
• During Cascadia's wet months, succumb to a weekend bender in Bend, where the sun do shine most o' the time.
