I'm planning to include a wiki as part of a one-man news startup I'm launching in 2010. It'll cover car-free and low-car life in Portland, hopefully in partnership with BikePortland and others. Accompanying the wiki will be a four-page, print monthly newsmagazine.
I manage a wiki-based nonprofit news startup called [http://portlandafoot.org Portland Afoot], for transit riders in Portland. We also publish a four-page monthly print newsmagazine, which is (as of December 2010) available for free to people who work downtown. ([mailto:partnerships@portlandafoot.org Drop me a line if you're interested!])

Though I expect to be my wiki's primary contributor, I'd obviously love anyone else's help and advice. All my content will be open, and I hope to work collaboratively with the Portland Wiki project whenever possible.

My name is Michael. I live in NoPo's Kenton neighborhood and I work as a reporter for The Columbian, across the river in Vancouver. I also contribute to NiemanLab.org and write about entrepreneurial local journalism at my own blog, Old Forest New Trees.

I've been enthusiastic about wikis for years and contributed a bit to Wikipedia, but have never become an active member of a wiki community. I'm also enthusiastic about Portland, transportation and development issues, improvisational theater and bread.

My news startup

I manage a wiki-based nonprofit news startup called Portland Afoot, for transit riders in Portland. We also publish a four-page monthly print newsmagazine, which is (as of December 2010) available for free to people who work downtown. (Drop me a line if you're interested!)

Though I expect to be the PA wiki's primary contributor, I'd obviously love anyone else's help and advice. It's licensed BY-SA, and I hope to keep working collaboratively with the PortlandWiki project whenever I can.
