I've lived in Portland for thirty years. Portland may not be perfect, but it keeps improving. My home town in the Calumet Region of Northern Indiana hasn't changed a bit in those years. I guess that means something, eh? Civic planners I know lament the passing of a few truly inspired leaders like Tom McCall. We continue to reap the benefit of the progress they sowed.

If you're not happy, pay attention and care.

We're a civilized people. That means that we do things for each other for no other reason than it would be good. Writing here would be a good way to pay attention. You don't have to do anything more than say what you know and tell it like it is. Expect it to get better.
