John Donner was a pioneer who settled in Portland and made a Donation Land Claim on what would later become a part of the Homestead neighborhood on Marquam Hill.
John Donner was born in 1790 in North Carolina and migrated to Portland 1850. [1] In 1857, Donner sold his land claim to Philip Marquam, but remained living in Portland until his death in 1879.
