Portland's concentration of high-tech companies has earned it the nickname "Silicon Forest". Starting with Tektronix back in 1946, the Portland Metro Area is host to Intel, Xerox, Epson, Hewlett-Packard, InFocus, and FLIR, among many, many other players of many sizes.
