There is a lot of biking in Portland. Consistently ranked the top bike city in the States[1][2][3], Portland is second only to Amsterdam in Virgin Vacations' world ranking for the most bike-friendly cities.[1]
Basic safety
Wear a helmet! They are available cheaply- Portland State University even has $5 helmet events occasionally. They also sell lights and locks cheaply on occasion. Legacy Health has had similar programs.
