Although consistently ranked the top bike city in the States[3][4][5], Portland slipped to number two behind Minneapolis in the 2010 Bicycling Magazine rankings[6]. Portland is second only to Amsterdam in Virgin Vacations' world ranking for the most bike-friendly cities.[3]
Basic safety
Wear a helmet! They are available cheaply- Portland State University even has $5 helmet events occasionally. They also sell lights and locks cheaply on occasion. Legacy Health has had similar programs.
