Vera Katz served as the 41st Mayor of Portland, and was the city's third woman to hold that office.

She served for three terms, from January 1993 to January 2005. She was preceded by Mayor "Bud" Clark and followed by Mayor Tom Potter. Mayor Sam Adams is usually described as her protege.

An informal-looking bronze statue of Katz sits along the Eastbank Esplanade.
