Purpose

With the recent attacks on women's healthcare and reproductive rights in this country, it has become more apparent than ever that we have only a tenuous hold on many of the rights that we may take for granted. The resources upon which thousands of women, men, and their families depend for basic healthcare are threatened by extreme partisan ideologies that push their conservative agenda at the expense of health and human dignity.

This month at the Multnomah County Young Democrats meeting, we are honored to have as a guest speaker Caitlin Campbell from NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon. Caitlin serves as the organization's Field and Volunteer Coordinator, and will be speaking with us about the recent Komen Foundation debacle over Planned Parenthood funding, as well as what other pro-choice organizations around the country have been dealing with. And in case you thought this was not a problem our great state would face, we will also discuss some of the threats to reproductive rights we are likely to see this election year in Oregon.

I hope you will all be able to join us for this event. Please bring your questions, your enthusiasm, and your friends!
