Dorothy Lee McCullough was Portland's thirty-fourth mayor, serving from 1949 - 1952. McCullough was Portland's first woman to serve as Mayor. Prior to serving as mayor, she had served as a state senator, and had been appointed to city council in August of 1943, replacing the recently deceased Commissioner Ralph Clyde and becoming the first woman council member.
