Speak Out! Community Forum on Police Misconduct[improve]
Purpose Investigators from the U.S. Department of Justice will be on hand to hear testimony about unconstitutional practices in the way the Portland Police Bureau uses force. The Albina Ministerial Alliance (AMA) Coalition for Justice and Police Reform will present invited testimony from family members of those who have been killed by police misconduct and then the forum will open to take public testimony. Do you know someone with a story about police use of force or the Bureau's unconstitutional practices? Please encourage them to attend. If your neighbor has not been a victim, you may want to come support those who have as they seek justice. Here is a link to the venue: http://www.pcc.edu/about/locations/cascade
Know Your Rights Training[improve]
Purpose The Know Your Rights training will give you the confidence to make decisions about how to engage your actions.
Armed with knowledge, activists can make informed choices regarding their interactions with government agents and can best protect their rights should they end up in handcuffs and in the legal system. The training will be facilitated by Lauren Regan, executive director from the Civil Liberties Defense Center that provides both legal observation at protests and gives people tools they need to invoke their rights.
STOP ACTA ! Worldwide protest[improve]
Purpose Global call to action to defend freedom of the Internet.
This agreement aims to formally protect intellectual property internationally. So far so good .. But the term "intellectual property" is deliberately vague. It may refer to trademarks, ideas or information. ACTA should therefore address the imitation of something subject to copyright. Suffice it to share copyrighted information to see his bail removed and internet access to prosecution.
The internet service providers should verify all data sent and received on your computer. Suffice it to cite a newspaper article in an email or send a piece of music to be taken by hand in the bag. The information will be sent to the author and you can bail at the request of a fine or prison sentence.
ACTA is the result of their lobbying of governments. A new democracy is baffouée and these are agreements for internet freedom-that we might be imposed by the unelected. This censorship could also permit to remove embarrassing information as is already the case in some countries where it blocks access to certain content, keywords or websites.
This law is not just computers, it will give full powers to companies like Monsento on agriculture ... http://webactionnow.com/

Corporations Are Not People[improve]
Purpose Jeffrey Clements reveals the far-reaching effects of this strange and destructive idea of corporate personhood, which flies in the face of not only all common sense but most of American legal history as well. Most importantly, he offers solutions - including a constitutional amendment to reverse Citizens United - and tools to help readers join a grassroots drive to implement them.
Jeffrey Clements is a co-founder of Free Speech for People, a national, nonpartisan campaign to Citizens United and pass the People's Rights Amendment. He has represented and advocated for people, businesses, and the public interest since 1988.

SundayCreating Peace and Protecting Sanity[improve]
Purpose Victory Over War: How to Create Peace and Protect Sanity During Times of Aggression
In these times of confusion, aggression, and seemingly endless political, social, and emotional violence, this is a very important question to ask. Thanks to the brilliance of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, we have a means to understand and attain victory over war -- the practice of creating peace and protecting sanity -- the path of the Dorje Kasung.
It does not require any knowledge of Buddhism or any commitment to the Dorje Kasung. The motto of the Dorje Kasung is "Victory over War". War represents the struggle with the three mental poisons identified by the Buddha: passion, aggression and ignorance. Victory is being willing to face these poisons and meet them head on with insight and loving kindness. We encounter conflict, confusion, and chaos everyday, in society as well as within out own minds. This workshop will focus on teachings and practical skills on how to find confidence, gentleness, and skillfulness when faced with aggression. When we can face aggression with compassion and awareness, we create peace, protect the sanity of non-aggression, and attain victory over war.
Please contact the Center for details.
Chakra Dance[improve]
Purpose
Among the best tools to evolve the spirit are the energy centers known as chakras. Chakra, an ancient sanskrit term meaning “wheel of light,” describes a complex human energy system of awareness. The seven chakra centers are associated with specific areas of the physical body. Each chakra is equally important to our energy flow and vitality, and each affects all the others. Developing one chakra while neglecting others only creates an imbalance, weakening overall strength. The goal is to have all seven chakras open, balanced and integrated.

NO WAR WITH IRAN RALLY and MARCH[improve]
Purpose Stop the war of the 1%
The people of Iran and America do not deserve to be used as tools for the benefit of the 1%. We the people of the world will lose in this war and nobody will win from any side, except the very few people who are orchestrating this insane war. For this reason we want to make a call out to all the occupations in the country to join us in a national day of anti-war rally and march event this coming February 12, 2012, to make it clear to President Obama and the government that we don’t want any war with Iran.
Going to war with Iran means the possibility of future bigger events and possibly war with other nations such as Russia, China, and Pakistan. For the future of the human civilization and our mother earth, let’s stop this madness and make our voice heard.

Agenda Setting and Discussion[improve]
Purpose Agenda Setting, Proposal Announcement and Discussion
Dharma Circle[improve]
Purpose
Frosty leaves as non-dual teachings from the world’s wisdom traditions open into the spacious field of the heart. Reflection, silent sitting, and silent movement soften our boundaries and open awareness of our essential nature, nearer to us than our own breath.
The door is open at 6:45. At 7:00 pm we begin with dialogue and dharma reflection, followed by an hour of silent practice.
Grounded in the heart, our actions grow from deep soil to yield fruits that enhance peace, justice, beauty, and balance in all that we do. In a tumultuous world, maintaining a spacious heart requires attention, intention, and ever-deepening love. Sangha or satsang is created anytime we are present with others for reflection or practice in the space of the heart, in service of truth. Sharing that intention, our dialogues invite us into reflection on our deepest Being, Mystery, Emptiness, the Beloved.
We embrace human nature just as it is, holy and broken, perfect and imperfect at the same time, and steep together in the timeless present moment, where definitions slip away. Gathering in satsang, sangha, or a community of practice provides a rich common ground as we travel in the terrain of the Heart.
TuesdayRuckus at the State Land Board[improve]
Purpose
Cascadia Forest Defenders are heading to Salem on the 14th to confront the State Land Board--Governor Kitzhaber, Secretary of State Kate Brown, and Treasurer Ted Wheeler-- about their direct hand in the destruction of Oregon's public forests. In October, Governor Kitzhaber approved a plan that will nearly double the annual clear cut in the Elliott Rainforest, starting this year. On the 14th, the first land board meeting of 2012, the Governor will also approve the privatization of over 1,000 acres of public forest land in Southern Oregon. Privatization will leave the fate of sensitive wildlife in the hands of ravenous timber barons. (for more info visit http://www.forestdefensenow.com) CFD invites any and all who are enraged with Kitzhaber to party with us on Valentines. Come with signs, props, and costumes appropriate for the occasion. Bring a friend, a lover, *or perhaps your whole affinity group* to participate in rowdy, light-hearted actions! Some logistics:

Drawing on their 25-year experience of living in community, members of the Peace House will share ideas, resources and "hand holding" with those who would like to get started. This is an exercise in mutual sharing. No one is an expert in how to live together in community, but together all can learn what is needed. Bring your vision of what kind of community you want to live in and share it with us. Together, we will work to bring that vision into reality.

Occupy 90210[improve]
Purpose
In the aftermath of the Citizens United decision, it is expected that the 2012 presidential race will cost an unprecedented $2,000,000,000. Furthermore, Obama recently announced that he will accept SuperPAC money, which enables wealthy people and corporations to donate unlimited amounts of money to political campaigns.
The millions of Americans who are poor, hungry and homeless in this country or the 1% of the population that can afford to spend $35,800 on dinner with the President? Occupy will use this occasion not only to condemn the role of Big Money in politics but also to initiate a fundraising drive to feed the food insecure in Los Angeles. The money raised will support the LA Hunger Action Network's Veggie Voucher program which doubles the purchasing power of food stamps at farmer's markets.

SaturdayOccupy Solidarity Social Forum[improve]
Purpose Occupy Olympia (WA) and the Alliance for Global Justice are hosting an Occupy Solidarity Social Forum Feb. 18-19 in the Washington state capital city. The self-organized, social forum-type gathering is open to all occupiers and allies. (Read more at http://afgj.org/?p=1891)
Not the US Social Forum but inspired by the format, what the OSSF is is a smaller Occupy Wall Street conference to be held in Olympia, WA.
This will be a mostly regional audience but the OSSF is being co-sponsored by the Alliance For Global Justice who is reaching out to Occupy organizations all over the US and encouraging their participation. We think that Olympia, between the two power houses of Occupy Portland and Occupy Seattle, will be a good meeting place to have a face to face conversation that moves us towards next steps.
February 18th and 19th is not far away, fortunately there are plenty in the northwest with skills and knowledge to share. This is the first national face to face since the Occupy movement began, we think that it will be a chance to develop the movement during a time when most encampments have gone and the winter weather has slowed us down. This is a chance for trainings and meetings that can help make the whole stronger and weave together the strands of the movement into a cohesive fabric. This is a chance for you to get your message out to the rest of the country and build your network. So please take the time to register as a participant and give some thought towards a workshop, training or facilitating a discussion. If you would like to table during the event please let me know. Solidarity, Bruce Wilkinson 360-742-0864 Occupy Olympia member Alliance For Global Justice Board Member

Like our flagship program, YEA Camp, YEA Academy’s curriculum is based on four areas we feel are critical for activists to develop: knowledge, skills, confidence and community to take action on the issues that matter to them. From 11am-4pm one Saturday a month, youth have an opportunity to learn key skills like:
All while finding out about inspiring ways others are having an impact in their community, building self confidence, creating a plan to impact a societal problem, and making friends with other young change-makers.

Dogcupy Portland[improve]
Purpose
This is a creative and PEACEFUL protest to draw positive media attention to our cause. Who could talk badly about a bunch of God's most loyal creatures?
Although you are welcome to protest wherever is convenient and oppressive. This is a creative way to involve all of our friends who still want to participate in the Occupy movement but don't necessarily want to go downtown. We are showing that the Occupation is more than just downtown. We also hope that this kind of event will inspire creativity within the ranks of the Occupiers.

Decolonizing Anarchism: Book Launch & IAS Board Event[improve]
Purpose Maia Ramnath's new book is on the anti-authoritarian elements of India's liberation struggle, examining the history of South Asian struggles against colonialism. It is the third title in the Anarchist Interventions book series, copublished between AK Press and the IAS. Come hear about decolonizing anarchism. Copies will be available at a reduced cost. "This is a stunningly impactful and densely researched book. Maia Ramnath has offered a vital contribution to our understanding of the long historical entanglement between liberation struggles, anticolonialism, and the radical movement of oppressed peoples against the modern nation-state. She audaciously reframes the dominant narrative of Indian radicalism by detailing its explosive and ongoing symbiosis with decolonial anarchism" - Dylan Rodriguez
Because the IAS is a 501(c)3 we have a board of directors, the policy making collective of the organization. Board members will introduce themselves, talk about their organizing work and thoughts about contemporary politics, and attendees will have a chance to talk with them informally. Please come, learn about Decolonizing Anarchism, meet the board, talk, eat delicious vegan food, and have fun. Beer and kombucha are on tap, and other drinks will also be available.
In addition to financing writers and copublishing books with AK Press, the IAS also publishes Perspectives on Anarchist Theory, has a speakers bureau, and organizes workshops and talks at conferences. Twice a year the IAS meets to award $2,000 to various struggling radical writers to support their writing. For the first time the IAS will be meeting on the West Coast. IAS folks will be coming from Quebec, Ontario, New York, Philadelphia, Oakland, D.C., L.A., and Detroit. Feather Circle[improve]

SundayChakra Dance[improve]

Coal Export Teach In[improve]
Purpose
Come learn about the coal industry's dirty energy plans to export coal from the NW and what you can do to stop them. We will be holding a teach-in where we will present information and create a space for discussion on this question as well as how the movement could have an ecological critique as part of its message and actions. This conversation will be grounded in a discussion of climate justice, the work of Portland Rising Tide and coal in the Pacific Northwest as an example of the destructive practices occurring in our region. Join a discussion to find out how the world's dirtiest fuel is traveling through our backyard and strategize how we can stop coal in its tracks and keep it in the ground! BONUS! The discussion will be followed by a fun street theater action! Check out http://portlandrisingtide.org for details or email portland@risingtidenorthamerica.org
