Ace Hotel
According to The Modern Nest[1] "Ace has hit the nail on the head when it comes to the perfect hipster boutique hotel."[2] The hotel's website informs us that "Ace Hotel Portland is a small hotel in historical downtown Portland, Oregon, near PSU and the Pearl District" (that is) "blocks from Powell’s Books and within walking distance of the many cultural districts."
The hotel features rooms starting at $95/night ("plus tax" with "European-style" bathrooms located "down the hall"), a mezzanine where local geeks can (and do) meet and do geek stuff together, so long as they order a refreshment from the Stumptown Coffee (open 'till 9:00 p.m.) shop or the restaurant (open 'till midnight on weekdays). Both the coffee shop and the restaurant are located on the hotel premises.
Formerly known as Clyde Hotel, the hotel's lobby served as the setting for a scene from the film Drugstore Cowboy and the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[3]
