Quimby is a road in northwest Portland, stretching from Northwest 10th Avenue to roughly Northwest 30th Avenue, broken occasionally. Quimby is interrupted by Wallace Park, Chapman Elementary School, and Northwest Cornell Road, among others.
Quimby is one of the streets that forms a portion of the Alphabet District. Originally part of John Couch's land claim, it was platted simply as "Q Street". It was renamed to Quimby in the 1890s during the first street renaming, and was named for L. P. W. Quimby, who was one of Portland's early hotel owners.
This street is the namesake for Mayor Quimby in The Simpsons. Simpsons creator Matt Groening grew up in Portland and named several characters after Portland streets.
