Oaks Amusement Park
Started in 1905, Oaks Amusement Park is the oldest continuously operating amusement park. Yes, it's over a century old, and parts of it look that old!
The 1 mph trolley is great fun for everyone aged 0 through 6 months (after 6 months they may prefer to reach their destination faster by crawling). The shooting gallery allows you to blast away at wooden, animatronic Old West saloon pianists, as you have always wanted to.
Despite Oaks Park's old-timey feel, it still has all the things one would expect from modern amusement parks, like cheaply made Spongebob Squarepants dolls and bad concession stand food.
The go-kart ride typically has the slowest line of all the rides. It's not uncommon to have to wait an hour in line to enjoy a few minutes of go-kart racing. Inhaling the go-kart exhaust will keep you entertained as you wait, though.
But in truth, most of the rides are a lot of fun (can't go wrong with a ferris wheel!), and as an experience, Oaks Park probably ranks high up on the list of fun spots Portland has to offer. And, unlike the local burlesque shows, you can take your kids to it.
