Oregon Fellowship of Reconciliation
The Fellowship of Reconciliation, based in Nyack, NY, is an international peace organization since the 1918. At this year's Fall Retreat (set for Friday-Sunday, October 14-16, 2011 at Camp Adams) the Oregon Chapter will explore nonviolence in both of its strategic and tactical forms. In order for nonviolence to be effective as a tool for social change, both are needed.
Anyone who has attended a nonviolent direct action which was designed to confront nonviolently government or corporate power structures can appreciate the need for demonstrators who know how to resist police and military units without violence. Training is essential.
Our Vision & Mission
Fellowship of Reconciliation's Vision: We envision a world of justice, peace and freedom. It is a revolutionary vision of a beloved community where differences are respected, conflicts are addressed nonviolently, oppressive structures are dismantled, and where people live in harmony with the earth, nurtured by diverse spiritual traditions that foster compassion, solidarity and reconciliation.
Fellowship of Reconciliation's Mission: FOR seeks to replace violence, war, racism, and economic injustice with nonviolence, peace and justice. We are an interfaith organization committed to active nonviolence as a transforming way of life and as a means of radical change. We educate, train, build coalitions and engage in nonviolent and compassionate actions locally, nationally and globally.[1]
