The Portland Mercury is the younger of Portland's two general-audience alternative weekly newspapers. In editorial content it stands apart from its closest competitor, Willamette Week, by a more robust Web presence, heavier coverage of transportation and a focus on readers in their 20s and 30s.
The Mercury is owned by the same company as The Stranger, the younger of Seattle's two alternative weekly newspapers. The two papers pursue similar business strategies and share some content, features and resources.
