Burnside Street is the axis that splits Portland's Five Quadrants on its North-South axis. On the west side of the Willamette River, it is called West Burnside, while it is East Burnside on the east side. Before the street renaming of 1931, Ankeny Street was the north-south axis for the Eastside.
