The Portland Beavers was Portland's AAA minor league baseball team. The team was put up for sale after failing to find a new ballpark to replace PGE Park, which was being converted into a soccer/football only stadium as part of the deal to bring a new soccer team into town.
The team may have finished their final season in last place in the league with a 59-85 record, but they did win their last home game at PGE Park, as 6-5 victory over the Las Vegas 51s.
The Beaver's major league affiliate since 2001 was the San Diego Padres.
