The South Waterfront is a recently developed area in the South Portland neighborhood south of Downtown and Interstate 405 and Interstate 5 on the west side of the Willamette River.
The area developed amid the real estate boom of the 2000s. The neighborhood's marketing office described it as "Oregon’s first green neighborhood and the largest green development in the country."
As of July 2010 it consists, most prominently, of five high-rise mixed-use buildings and one high-rise office building:
- The Ardea, a 323-apartment, 30-floor residential tower.
- Meriwether, twin residential towers of 21 and 24 stories, with 245 total condominiums.
- Atwater Place, a 212-condominium, 22-story residential tower.
- The John Ross, a 303-condominium, 31-story residential tower described by The Oregonian as "the largest building in the city."
- The Mirabella, a 224-condominium, 30-story residential tower for seniors, developed by Pacific Retirement Services of Medford.
- The OHSU Center for Health and Healing, a 16-story, 400,000 square foot office and commercial building.
Nearby is the Matisse, a 274-unit, six-story residential apartment project.
