Portland World Citizens' United Front meeting
[improve]
- Date: Friday, June 29, 2012
- Time: 6pm - 8pm
- Location: Che Room, St. Francis Occupy Portland HQ (1131 SE Oak St, Portland, OR 97214)
- Jump to this event's wiki page, edit it, discuss it or return to the events page.
Purpose
The Portland World Citizens' United Front is a multi-issue, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and diversified community action group dedicated to the defense of the basic, immediate human rights for all people in the Portland metropolitan area.
- In solidarity with Occupy Portland, we build community and advocate for the rights of immigrants, refugees, and ethnic minorities. We are the 99 percent and we are all citizens of the world. Ultimately, anti-immigrant xenophobia and racism hurt everyone regardless of one's ethnicity, nationality or immigration status.
- We understand the human rights as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including social, cultural, economic, political, and individual civil rights.
- We utilize conventional political approach, radical/direct-action political approach, and social/mutual aid approach to achieve our goals and meet the human rights needs of the people.
- This meeting will be mostly for networking, assessing group strengths, identifying needs of the community, and to build movement farther upon the success of the Occupy movement.
