Share your Portland knowledge, and help make PortlandWiki a world-class city wiki! Refreshments happily provided. This event is FREE and open to the entire Portland community. Places to go near Portland Long Beach, Washington: Convenient Portland getaway and home to the "world's largest frying pan." Visit beautiful Timberline Lodge, a National Historic Landmark. The lodge was constructed in the late '30s as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression. Ski the slippery slopes of Mt. Hood. Explore the active volcano at Mt. St. Helens. Meander along the Pacific Coast, less than a two day power walk from Portland. During Cascadia's wet months, succumb to a weekend bender in Bend, where the sun do shine most o' the time.
