Browse through the many art galleries throughout gritty Old Town and the shiny and plasticine Pearl District. Meander through the Portland Police Historical Museum. Walk through the South Park Blocks, which run through the Portland State University campus. (more) Places to go near Portland Long Beach, Washington: Convenient Portland getaway and home to the "world's largest frying pan." Visit beautiful Timberline Lodge, a National Historic Landmark. The lodge was constructed in the late '30s as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression. Ski the slippery slopes of Mt. Hood. Explore the active volcano at Mt. St. Helens. Meander along the Pacific Coast, less than a two day power walk from Portland. During Cascadia's wet months, succumb to a weekend bender in Bend, where the sun do shine most o' the time. Spend the July 4th holiday in Long Beach, Washington, a pinnacle of patriotism and home to the World's Largest Frying Pan. Find your perfect Halloween pumpkin at the Pumpkin Patch!
